Here we cover some of the questions that are frequently asked. Click on the questions below
WHAT IS IP CCTV?
Like an analogue system, video is recorded on hard drives, but since the video is an IP stream straight from the camera, there is more flexibility as to how and where that video is recorded.
The DVR is replaced with an NVR (network video recorder), which in some cases is just software since it doesn’t need to convert analogue to digital. Video footage can then be stored on new or existing network RAID drives as directed by the NVR software.

WHAT IS A WIRELESS SECURITY CAMERA?
Wireless cameras only require one pair of wires – for power. The video is transmitted wirelessly via transmitter and receiver devices. A wireless camera is really a combination of the camera plus a built-in wireless transmitter to send the video, and a receiver to receive the video, which in turn plugs into the monitor or recorder.
Don’t forget power is always required for the camera. Wired systems are definitely more robust and reliable.

WHAT IS HD-OVER-COAX EXACTLY?
The HD-over-Coax solution incorporates both cameras and DVRs. The technology currently offers two specifications: 1080p (1920 x 1080) and 720p (1280 x 720). In addition, the technology features Auto Signal Compensation (ASC) which provides extremely low signal distortion for long-distance transmission.
WHAT IS ANALOGUE CCTV?
Most modern DVRs are a network device, and as such can be accessed remotely from the LAN, or with the proper configuration, from across a WAN or the internet. There are no tapes to change.
Video is kept on hard drives, typically on a FIFO basis so there is always a rolling video archive of the past X days. So, despite the fact that video is being transmitted from the cameras in an analogue format, live and recorded video is still available over the network.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL CCTV SYSTEM?
Equipment can take up to 10 business day to arrived to are location. E.G. Security Solutions does not carrie full surveillance system on stock. This will prevent customer warranty to expire. Read more under warranty.
WHAT IS A DAY AND NIGHT CAMERA?
The camera has a device that is sensitive to the surrounding light conditions and switches the camera between colour and black & white modes automatically. It is designed to increase its light sensitivity in poor lighting conditions and at the same time reduce noise level in the images. However, the day and night camera will fail if the illumination (Lux) level is too low.
NETWORK VIDEO RECORDER (NVR)
NVR’s differ mainly from DVR’s in that they record video from IP cameras, while DVR’s mainly record analog-based video to a digital format.
